Hunger:

Hunger is the body’s demand to eat. Low blood sugar levels cause the feeling and the action of hunger hormones

Appetite:

The desire to eat. Sometimes this is triggered by hunger but many times it’s due to craving. habits, and the availability of food, boredom or other social and emotional factors, Event seeing and smelling food, other people eating around you or passing a restaurant you like can stimulate your appetite.

Suppressing hunger and not eating regularly the body will tend to self-regulate by overeating if it goes without food for too long.

Eating high sugar and starches and a low fibre diet make blood sugar levels fluctuate thereby leading to cravings and problem managing eating behaviour.

Satiety: Satiety means a state of fullness.

How to increase Satiety:

  • – Eating regularly for 2-3 hours is necessary that includes 3 major meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and 3 smaller snacks (Mid-morning intake, evening snacks and light supper).
  • – Eating foods that are high in volume and low in calories.
  • – Drinking well quantity of water.
  • – Eating slowly and mindfully and avoiding TV and other gadgets improve the feeling of fullness.
